i Love you sis

season one luna and the ghost of her twin sister. 

in my personal head cannon, luna had a twin sister, Princess Emmalee rose, who, heartbroken after nightmare moon was banished to the moon  begged celestia to send her to another world.   celestia agreed and helped her sister escape the pain of not having luna around. 

in the new world, emmalee found herself in the form of a penguin. she stayed in the new world for ten whole years which in equestria was 9,999 years. until she was killed,  merely one year before luna returned. before her death, emmalee managed to send a letter to celestia with one for luna enclosed. 

what the two alicorn sisters didn't know was that their sister fell in love with a penguin and they had a daughter, therefore celestia and luna`s niece. and the two alicorn sisters wouldn`t meet their niece (and hence cadence`s cousin) until ten years later.
